What is the Young Leaders Delegation?


On February 19-20, 2019, Vancity will be hosting the Global Alliance for Banking on Values Summit 2019 in Vancouver, Canada. In partnership with CityHive, we are looking for 30 young leaders to form the Young Leaders Delegation to the Summit. The Delegation will:

  • Receive an all-access pass to the GABV Summit from February 19-20, 2019 valued at $795 CAD.

  • Attend two curated pre-summit sessions to get a behind the scenes meet-and-greet with CEOs, speakers, and other summit VIPs, connect with the other Young Leaders, and gain more context about the summit.

  • Participate in a post-summit Learning Journey (curated half-day tour in Metro Vancouver) about specific summit themes on February 21, 2019.

  • Receive transportation and meals in order to fully participate, as well as a $100 honorarium to help cover any incidental costs. Accommodations for Delegates from outside of Metro Vancouver will also be provided.

Program dates and details


Participation in the Young Leaders Delegation includes two pre-summit sessions, the GABV summit, and a debrief session, as well as an optional Learning Journey (curated half-day tour in Metro Vancouver). The dates, timing, and locations are provided below. Full participation at all sessions is expected with the exception of the optional Learning Journey on February 21, 2019.

About the organizer –

CityHive


CityHive is proud to be designing and leading the Young Leaders Delegation for the GABV Summit in partnership with Vancity.

CityHive is a non-profit social enterprise on a mission to transform the way that young people are included in the planning, design and decision-making in their cities and communities. We act as a bridge-builder between cities, civic institutions, and young people. We design and run youth and young adult civic education-to-action programs. We also design and deliver youth engagement strategies and programs for cities and civic institutions.

Co-founders, Tesicca Truong and Veronika Bylicki, have been banking with Vancity since 2008 and CityHive has been a proud member of Vancity since its incorporation. Vancity has been longstanding partner and sponsor of several CityHive initiatives including the 30Network on Housing Affordability, a pop-up think-and-do-tank for 30 young leaders under 30 as well as the New West City 101 civic education program.

Any young leader between the age of 19-30 who lives, works or studies in Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, Squamish, Alert Bay or Seattle. We value diversity in the Young Leaders Delegation. It helps us foster greater creativity, breadth of experience, and personal growth at the Summit, and it's essential to our success as an organization. We would encourage applicants from backgrounds who normally may not have the opportunity to access these spaces to apply to this program.
No. We are looking for young leaders from a variety of backgrounds, lived experience, and education levels. We are looking for leaders who are curious about the role that banking plays in environmental, social, and economic justice. If you think you should be part of the delegation, tell us why.
If accepted in the Delegation, travel and meal costs are covered. If you live outside of Metro Vancouver, accommodations will be provided as well. An additional honorarium of $100 will be provided to each delegate to help cover any incidental costs.
We expect all delegates to participate fully in the entire program. For delegates applying from out of Metro Vancouver, there will be a call-in option for the first pre-summit session. Exceptions can be made under extenuating circumstances. Please get in contact if you have any questions about this.
