Bertrand Rossert is Adviser to the Chief Ethics Officer of the World Bank Group and was previously Manager of Conflicts of Interest at the World Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Bertrand headed the Office of the Secretary General of the European Investment Bank, the financial institution of the European Union. Before that, he was one of the senior members of the team that created the compliance function of the European Investment Bank. He has worked on a broad range of ethics, compliance and governance issues and also has many years of experience in organizational change and in policy design and implementation. Bertrand has also extensive experience of economic and regulatory analysis and of both ex-ante and ex-post project assessment. He contributed to the economic appraisal of more than 100 projects, mainly in the energy sector. Bertrand has been a frequent speaker in Europe and the US on governance, compliance and on both practical/business ethics and ethical theory. Bertrand holds a master’s in economics from the London School of Economics. He also holds a degree in public administration from Sciences-Po (Paris Institute of Political Sciences) and graduated in international business at the Paris Business School (ESCP).
